Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 lb ground sirloin
  • 2-3 medium onions, finely diced
  • 2 or more garlic cloves
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 teaspoons vinegar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 10 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 1 15 ounce can of kidney beans
  • cooked spagetti
  • cheddar cheese
  • hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown the sirloin and turkey. As meat is browning, add diced onion and cook until soft, 3 – 5 minutes.Add the remaining ingredients up to the kidney beans. You can add the kidney beans at the same time, but they tend to break up during cooking.
  2. Simmer for approximately 1 hour. Add kidney beans and simmer while you are cooking the spaghetti.
  3. To serve, dish a small amount of pasta into bowl or plate and cover with chili. Optionally garnish with cheese and hot sauce of your choice
