The Welker Christmas Gift Exchange

Christmas BulbRules:

1. Gift(s) given must include something made by the gift giver
2. All gifts must not total over $40. This includes the cost of making your homemade gift.
3. You may not have your spouse as your gift recipient.

To maintain the Secret Santa’s identity and to make things easier we propose the following. We can each add a comment to this post with wishlist items. List anything you think might help, clothing sizes, interests, etc.

You cannot edit a comment after you leave it, so if you have additional items at a later date, just leave new comments. I know this isn’t ideal, but I thought this way, everyone would have one place to correspond with each other.

If I have made any omissions or you have other ideas, just drop a comment and I will update the post. The right hand sidebar also has some shopping links if you are shopping on the internet.

I like hats. Most teams are cool. No Browns/Rams/Buckeye/Bengals hats are allowed into the McQuate house so please take that into consideration.

I can always use cook books.

I am also fond of beer. I seem to have developed a taste for Corona.

Now that Mom held my hand and showed me how to get on the website without a password ———-I really want peace on earth but I would be willing to split it up and go for peace in North and South America, Austrailia, Europe, Greenland, Iceland, and the Pacific Islands this year. For my birthday next year I want the rest.
If the above turns out to cost more than $40 I would like a new timer/temperature probe thingy. (mine broke) Any kitchen gadget would be fun. I probably don’t need cookbooks. Actually for my handmade gift you could take home about 50 cookbooks. Then I would have more room for appliances in the pantry. Now that I thought of it thats what I really want. Take cookbooks! Forget peace on earth.
    The website is awesome.

The picture at the top of the site looks like something out of a magazine!!! WOW! Great site.
    Wish List:
-I would love some maternity clothes. I only have one pair of work pants left that fit. I’ve tried to do the rubber band trick with other ones but then my zipper just comes down all day and it’s very frustrating! 🙂
-Another idea would be the new Nicholas Sparks book (I’m not sure what the title is)
-Photo albums or picture frames are always good
-I also saw this ipod charger in The Container Store catalog. It’s battery charged to provide 9 extra hours
-Personalized stationary from the same website that Deb sent above would be great too! I love any of the embossed graphics and I’m all out of my Heather Schwamburger note cards

or Webkinz (I have an elephant, monkey, pink horse, and white terrier) I would like a penguin or a pink poodle or maybe a panda.

or any monkey accessories or monkey decorations

or size 3 1/2 shoes (any)

    or size 14 shirts (girls)
    or size 12 pants

or a new coat (size 14/16 girls) BabyPhat brand

Yes, I am the Xmas Shopper of the World! Anyone need a personal shopper for the kids? I am out of control! But, loving Xmas this year!
Does anyone have a Christmas Elf at their house? I surely hope ours comes soon. We love surprises! Jameson and Hattie are waiting anxiously! HoHoHo!

In response to Deb’s last post…. yeah right. My kids are anxiously awaiting a nice big lump of coal. I am thinking of a nice shock collar to get these little munchkins in line. I especially like the type used to teach dogs to not bark. It shocks every time they bark. I imagine it would work quite nicely for children you say “No!” constantly.

Alright, they really aren’t that bad. If I just close my eyes and hold my hands over my ears, I hardly notice that they are misbehaving. I just hope that Santa uses similar tactics.

    New thought.

If it isn’t already perfectly clear, I have a soft spot for books.

Whomever has me should go to Plymouth and take some of the cookbooks off of dad’s hands and then regift them to me.

    Everyone is happy!

Ok, next year for Christmas, we’ve decided that we don’t want any presents. We just want everyone to bring a rake and a tarp to our house to help us pick up leaves. This is ridiculous! We’ve been at it all day and haven’t even made a dent! Oh well, I guess it’s the price that we have to pay for all of these beautiful trees.

By the way, we will happily take some of those cook books off your hands!

I thought of one more thing. I also like any Pet Shop stuff.

And guys, I am reading this. Just so you know. Don’t write about what presents you get me. I thought what you wrote about Jameson and Hattie was funny.

I would also like Magic Tree House book #29 and I would also like #37 and #38.

Glenn, my mom was deaf for a day for her class. Maybe you should try that so you don’t hear your kids saying NO.

I thought of something. I would like copies of the book THE THINGS THEY CARRIED by Tim O’Brien for my class. You can get them used from 3-4 dollars at Amazon, but it may take a few weeks for them to come.

The handmade gift could be you going to area high schools and asking them if they have copies to donate to a poor teacher at East High School. The schools won’t donate their copies, but if the students have to purchase the book on their own, the school could leave out a box for the students to put their copies in when they are done. I know both Olentangy high schools read this book. I think New Albany and Westerville reads it too.

If this is too crazy, here are some other ideas:
    -reams of colored paper
    -reams of white office paper
-big poster size Post-It paper (white-no line)
    -markers (crayola)
-colored pencils (five or six packs)
    -pencils
-folding folders (plain – come in a big box)

    Ideas for homemade gifts:
    -babysitting coupons
-clean any part of my house
    -organize any closet
    -make cookies
-create a web site for my class
    -help me grade papers/journals

or anything else – I like almost everything (except meat 🙂

Sydney, The Smiley faces are called emoticons and the web site will automatically convert them to graphics from their text counterparts. I made another page that shows all of the possible options.

    HERITAGE:

If we all end up staying in town on Monday, is anyone interested in going to church with us on Christmas Eve? Heritage has 4 services on the 24th at 4:00, 5:30, 7:00 or 11:00. We’re flexible and would love to have some family with us. All of the December services have been amazing!

Also, let us know if you’re interested in going with us this weekend. We could go to the 6:00 PM service on Saturday night and have dinner together… or they have 2 services on Sunday at 9:00 or 11:00.

Here’s the website if you want to check it out.
