Homemade margarine
Ahh, why would you bother?
Mostly because it provides an alternative to margarine, hydrogenated fats and it tastes better than margarine.
Most margarine contains hydrogenated fats which allows the margarine to be semi-solid at room temperatures. Unfortunately, hydrogenated fats have some of the same characteristics of saturated fats. Now don’t get me wrong, what I propose is not exactly healthy. But if you must have butter or this type of fat in your diet then you can limit how many unhealthy fats you consume.
Homemade margarine.
Simply mix one stick of butter with 1/2 cup of Canola oil or some other oil of your choice. Olive oil is quite nice.
To make it easy to combine the ingredients, I let the stick(s) of butter set on the counter a couple of hours until quite soft. It is then possible to combine them with a simple whisk. Note: This concoction is not solid at room temperature but is quite easily spread at refrigerator temperatures. Just don’t leave it sitting out for extended periods of time.
